Dyfed Powys Police on behalf of GoSafe, The Wales Road Casualty Reduction Partnership and associated partners invited tenders for a framework arrangement to carry out Traffic Counts and Speed Surveys across Wales.
The vast area of Wales always brings a logistical challenge but working with the GoSafe Team and careful scheduling of the sites enables us to provide the services required. Having worked on the contract for 11 years the experience of the Tracsis team is key to a successful project and client satisfaction.
Tracsis carry out Traffic Counts and Speed Surveys for the partnership of Police , GoSafe and Local Authorites using a variety of traffic monitoring equipment and expert analysis of the data:
- Pneumatic tubes – for speed survey, “speed-on-green” surveys and red-light violation counts
- Radar – both manual and unmanned counts
- Data downloads from static loop counters
- Bluetooth surveys including, but not limited to traffic counts, speed surveys, junction monitoring
- Video surveys
- Any emergent technology for comparable surveys not currently on market
The contact also includes the provision of subsequent data to an agreed format for our clients.
Regular meetings between our Project Director and key individuals in the Partnership to review both the contract as a whole as well as specific tasks keeps everyone up to date. Client Satisfaction surveys and reviews of client feedback helps us to continuously improve the service we provide.
Tracsis advise the Client of alternative methods of surveying which could offer improvements in data quality, productivity and data dissemination as well as issues of health and safety.
We are not affiliated to any one equipment or software supplier, therefore we can offer impartial advice on alternative technologies from our in-house Head of Innovation & Development. This investment in technical knowledge keeps us at the forefront of our industry and ensures our clients are gaining the greatest advantage from new developments.
Tracsis Traffic and Data Services currently services 30 framework contracts with public sector organisations and typically supplies ad-hoc services to between 10 and 30 individual clients at any one time. The extent of work in hand varies by time of year as the majority of Traffic Survey work is required during school term time only. Many of our projects are short-term in nature and rely on having flexible, efficient and responsive processes in place.
We are geared to react quickly to specific requests for additional work and have the flexibility in terms of staffing and resources to meet our clients’ needs. Over the 25 years of operating our project management processes our business has evolved to meet the short-term peaks and urgent client requests which are typical in our industry. Our project management works within our ISO9001 Quality Management System and flexible fieldwork resources are designed to expand and contract as required. This high level of efficiency is delivered by our centralised Project Management, Data Analysis and Business Support Teams based at our Head Office, combined with flexible, strategically placed teams of fieldworkers based in the regions.
The information from the survey sites is analysed by our data analysis experts. Under the agreement each set of site data is produced to a specification set out by the GoSafe Team. Each set of new data is checked against data from previous years and summaries are provided to enable the GoSafe Team to compare them against accident and mobile safety camera speed data.
Having completed a succesful 5 years of the original contract a new 5 year contract has been agreed and Tracsis will be working hard on improving the services and offering the framework to the local authorities to enable them to complete the work they require under the best value banner.
