A120 Essex ANPR

For such a large data set, the challenges following the fieldwork are often the most difficult. Our Analysis team provided the client with a robust set of data they required, delivered on time and to specification.

The A120 is an important trunk road in the East of England. It is a key driver for the local and national economy around Essex. Through public consultation, and assessment of the routes around Uttlesford, Uttlesford District Council and Essex County Council deemed that the A120 was no longer fit for purpose and that new routes and upgrades are required. The proposed new route would link the A120 and the A133 through the creation of a new dual carriageway to the east of Colchester.

Through collaboration with the Council, Tetra-Tech were commissioned as the Consultants to deliver the overall project. Tracsis Traffic Data were commissioned as sub-contractors to undertake wide-scale origin-destination (O-D) surveys to understand the extent of current conditions. Tracsis joined forces with Advanced Transport Research to deliver this major project.

To capture the route-based O-D Movements Tracsis installed 118 ANPR cameras, alongside 155 standard cameras and 83 Automatic Traffic Counters to supplement the O-D study.
