A36 Speed Surveys

Tracsis installed 30 Automatic Traffic Counters between Bath and Southampton to capture the data for the client. Surveys were carried out for a 24hr, 7-day period which included weekly checks to ensure the equipment operated correctly.

The A36 is a trunk road and primary route in southwest England that links the port city of Southampton to the city of Bath. Tracsis were required to carry out a number of vehicle speed surveys along the route. The Client is a road operator responsible for managing the busiest network in Europe, carrying one third of all road traffic and two-thirds of freight traffic in England.

The roads that make up England’s Strategic Road Network are a key enabler of economic growth and prosperity and are essential to the quality of life of the nation.

The speed surveys were required to be captured and delivered, to enable the client to achieve its outcomes of:

  • Supporting economic growth,

  • A safe and serviceable network,

  • A more free flowing network,

  • An improved environment and

  • A more accessible and integrated network
